This mysterious head on the rock is placed at the Djerdap Canyon, on the middle between the little towns, Donji Milanovac and Tekia, and very near the archeological site LEPENSKI VIR, one of the most interesting settlements from neolithic period, in Europe.
On that place, the river Danube is a natural border between Yugoslavia and Romania, and the rock with a head is on the Romanian side.
And it is very easy to notice, that it is not some accidental game of the nature.

On the Yugoslav side of the river Danube, the Djerdap Canyon is a national park with unique natural beauty, and it`s typical looking is like this.
The place with the `head in the rock` is at the part of the canyon, where the river was almost impossible for navigation until finishing the hydrocentral, Djerdap, in the second half of XX century. This fact was well known in the ancient times, and later, they were well famous ship pilots living in Tekia, the only people capable to navigate the ships through the canyon.

` A Volcano` , rock worshiped by the citizens of the neolithic settlement Lepenski Vir, in fact a system of seven settlements, placed on the both sides of the river.
This rock is placed on the Romanian side, just across the biggest neolithic settlement, and just at the bank of the river. Between this rock and the neolithic settlement, there is a whirlpool ( Vir = Whirlpool on Serbian), where the little fisherman`s boat goes around in a precise circles.
The neolithic settlement Lepenski Vir is also famous by marvelous and unique stoned figures, found at the fireplaces of some houses in the settlement
